~ Garden Association ~

Cornworthy Garden Association has been in existence in its present form for 12 years now, joining forces with Ashprington Garden Association in 2001.

The Garden Competition began in 2000 and has been an annual event ever since and well supported by people with large and small gardens, veg plots or containers and hanging baskets (and now allotments have joined the categories). It usually takes place during the second week of July and has now been joined by the

Scarecrow Competition which caused much interest and amusement when it was first held in 2010. Anyone can enter either competition and entry forms for this year's contest can be picked up from Dymonds or from Steve Hunt. Do have a go – the more scarecrows that can be seen by front gates in the village, the more impact they make and the more plots entered for the gardens the better the competition.

When Cornworthy joined with Ashprington it was at a time when support for the Flower and Produce Show held in Ashprington was on the wane, so the two Associations decided to hold a joint Show at alternate venues. This has happened regularly every year and it has become a well supported highlight of the late summer.
