What a huge success the Cornworthy Allotments have been! And how wonderful it is to have a book published on the people of this parish.
This section has a write-up on the history of the allotments, with photographs to follow. A future feature with top planting tips is soon to be added!
There will also be a news flash from time to time, and for this the website seeks someone to contribute, so if you have some time available to help with words and images for this page then please be in touch.

The Perfect Plot
April 2012 saw the launch of a book about our allotments called The Perfect Plot. The book is beautifully illustrated with photographs by Kim Sayer and forward by gardening expert Christine Walkden. The book tells the story of how to set up an allotment and there are lots of growing tips as well. Jonathan Dimbleby sums up our book as ‘Both a practical manual and a magical story that lifts the spirit.’ The book is published by Simon & Schuster and is available at all good high-street bookshops and online.
“If anything is going to inspire the amateur gardener to ‘have a go’ – this is it.”
“Inspirational, entertaining and beautiful – this is a gem of a book”
“There are many practical tips which help and encourage both novice and experienced growers alike.”
“Whether as a reference book, a present or just an indulgence, I would strongly recommend this excellent book.”
